Projects

There are a large number of Projects happening in an around Wrexham. Find out about them here

Alpha

Does God exist?

Yes? No? Probably?

The Alpha course is the perfect opportunity to explore this and other crucial questions in a relaxed, informal and fun environment.

Each of the 10 weekly sessions starts with a meal or refreshments, then participants watch a DVD about the Christian Faith. This is followed by open discussion in small groups to wrestle through the issues raised by the DVD. Towards the end of the course, there will be a 24 hour Holy Spirit Weekend, this Autumn running in the Quinta, Oswestry.

Everyone is welcome on Alpha, whether they belong to a Faith or not. Please note - the course is entirely free.

As courses are planned, more details will appear here.

Street Pastors

Taking ordinary people, training them and then putting them out on the streets of Wrexham might a first sight sound crazy! But instead we have found that the love of God, expressed in a practical way, has broken down barriers between the church and local people, the police and the council

Now comprising a work across 8 churches, full details of the Wrexham work can be found here. Street Pastors is now a nationwide initiative and we invite you to visit the main webpage at www.streetpastors.org.uk. You can also contact Wrexham Street Pastors directy on their email address: streetpastorswrexham@hotmail.com.

From time to time an update is issued by the Street Pastor Team in Wrexham and you can read the latest one here. Additionally, they have produced an Annual Report for 2009 which you can read here.

Christians Against Poverty - CAP

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a national debt counselling charity working through a network of 58 centres based in local churches. CAP offers hope and a solution to people in debt through its unique, in-depth service. We are thrilled that Wrexham has its own branch office of CAP that works Monday - Wednesday. You can contact them on 01978 266975 or via their email wrexham@capuk.org and get further info at the website www.capuk.org.

Feeding the Roofless

Since 2005, Wrexham's churches have gone out every weekend to meet and minister to our homeless and roofless population. Working from the back of their cars, rain or shine, we have seen barriers between the churches and its role to the disadvantaged come tumbling down. Currently administered out of the offices of the Salvation Army, you can get in touch with the coordinator, Alyson Smyger on 01978 311076.

Rocksalt

Rock Salt is a youth and community outreach project based in Caergwrle, near Wrexham. Working with forty to sixty teenagers per evening, plus other age groups, Rocksalt is now in its eleventh year creating an environment in which young people feel secure, respected and valued, where relationships are built based on mutual respect and trust. Staff include volunteers or those on placement who can give time regularly or occasionally at any of the Rock Salt sessions which take place for Teenagers on Monday & Friday evenings, Juniors on Wednesday evenings and Senior Citizens on Wednesdays 12:00 - 2:00pm. Activities include supervising 5-a-side football and other games, serving behind the bar, teaching crafts, cooking, etc. There's alwaays lots to do, and you can find out more by contacting Rocksalt staff on 01978 761318 or email:r.v.k@talk21.com.

Wrexham Listeners

Over the last ten years throughout our churches in the town, Mission Wrexham has encouraged Chrsitians to train to become skilled in listening, so that anyone who would like to be offered a 'listening ear' can call Wrexham Listeners. Since then the listeners have worked in many home and work situations, most recently being available in our local hospital and on the streets through the Street Pastors. If you would like to get in touch, be it to book a session or enquire about training, then please ring Wrexham Listeners on 01978 822573 or 01978 846151. All listeners receive training from the Acorn Christian Healing Foundation.
